🦃 The Thanksgiving Table: What’s Safe (and Toxic) for Your Furry Friends
The holidays bring all the good smells — and the temptation to share. But many classic dishes contain ingredients that are dangerous or even toxic to your pets.
Here’s your cheat sheet for a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
✅ Safe in Small Amounts

Plain, cooked turkey breast (no skin, bones, or seasoning)

Sweet potatoes (baked or boiled, unbuttered, unsalted)

Green beans (steamed or raw — skip casseroles and cream of mushroom soup)

100% pure pumpkin purée (not pie mix, which contains spices and sugar)

Plain, cooked rice (white or brown)
🚫 Strictly Avoid These

Turkey skin, bones, or gravy: High fat can cause pancreatitis. Bones are a choking hazard.

Stuffing, onions, garlic, scallions, or chives: These alliums are toxic to both dogs and cats.

Mashed potatoes with butter, cream, or milk

Grapes, raisins, and any desserts (especially those containing chocolate or Xylitol, which is highly toxic!)

Alcohol (even “just a lick” can be dangerous for small pets)

This all started with a scent, a couple of dogs, and a dream. As a dog-dad, I wanted to create something that felt as joyful as the moments my wife and I share with our pets. Something that improved their lives and helped others.
